Office Hours Today

CDBG will host office hours today from 3-4 p.m. but will conclude at 3:30 if there are no questions. This is an opportunity for anyone to ask questions or get clarification from CDBG staff. No registration is required.

CDBG Award Ceremony

Communities that received a grant award in 2025 are invited to the award ceremony on March 11. Please make sure each person who plans to attend submits an RSVP. This will assist in planning table arrangements, as 3-4 communities will likely be sat at each table.

KDOT Grant Opportunity

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Transportation Alternatives (TA) Call for Projects, administered through the Kansas Department of Transportation's Active Transportation Program, is now open! $32 million will be available to award to projects primarily focused on the safety of Kansas residents while walking, biking and rolling. If this is of interest, please read the following message carefully.


The application process will begin with the Concept Paper phase to determine eligibility of applicant and project and improve technical assistance prior to submission of a full application. Concept Papers, required prior to the submission of a full application, are due by 11:59PM February 27, 2026. The link to the full application will be sent to eligible applicants that completed the Concept Paper; the full application is due May 15, 2026. For a full timeline, visit the TA webpage.


To be as informed as possible on this TA opportunity, applicants are encouraged to attend one of the 3 webinars and review the webinar slides and guidance documents.

Please note, the TA Concept Paper must be submitted through Qualtrics, but applicants are encouraged to first complete the Word document and then copy and paste into Qualtrics so that you have a copy for your records and to reduce the risk of losing work.

Kansas Water Office Grant Programs

The Kansas Water Office has opened applications for two significant grant programs designed to support water infrastructure development across Kansas. These programs were established through Sen. Sub. for HB 2302, a bipartisan bill signed by Governor Kelly during the 2023 legislative session that increased funding for the State Water Plan Fund.

Technical Assistance Fund Grants
Available Funding: $7.5 Million

This program provides funding for the planning and development phases of water infrastructure projects, including:


  • Engineering and design services
  • Project planning and feasibility studies
  • Project management support
  • Technical assistance for grant and loan application preparation

Water Projects Fund Grants

Available Funding: $19.5 Million

This competitive statewide program supports the physical implementation of water infrastructure projects, including:


  • Construction of new water-related infrastructure
  • Repair and maintenance of existing systems
  • Replacement of aging infrastructure
  • Related construction costs
  • Matching funds for other grant or loan applications
  • Loan balance payoff for certain existing KDHE water or sewer loans


Special Opportunity: If your community has a KDHE water or sewer loan and has been making payments for five years or more, you may qualify for partial loan forgiveness through this program.

Eligibility:  Municipalities and special districts related to water organized under the Laws of Kansas

No matching funds required for either program

Moderate Income Housing (MIH) & Kansas Housing Investor Tax Credit (KHITC)

The MIH and KHITC programs support the development of affordable housing projects across Kansas. Round 1 of KHITC is open only to applicants proposing qualified housing projects located in small and medium counties, or those related to previously awarded open MIH grants.

Important: Applicants intending to apply should submit a "Notice of Application" form no later than October 3, 2025, to ensure access to the Procorem application system before the deadline.

KDOT Cost Share Program

Application Period

Applications Open:  Monday, August 11

Applications Close: Thursday, September 18

The Kansas Department of Transportation Cost Share Program provides funding assistance for local transportation projects. This program helps communities leverage state resources to improve roads, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure.
